There are two main ways to win a round: eliminate the entire enemy team or complete the map's primary objective.

The most popular map types are: Bomb Defusal (de_ maps) - Terrorists must plant and detonate a bomb at a designated location. Counter-terrorists must prevent the planting or defuse the bomb before it explodes. Hostage Rescue (cs_ maps) - Counter-terrorists must locate and escort hostages safely to the rescue zone. Terrorists try to prevent the rescue. If time runs out without the objective being completed, the team at an advantage (usually the defending team) wins the round.
